What is Laser Planet?

What facilities are there?

7 screen briefing room, caged vesting area, large arena accommodating up to 38 players - though larger groups can be accommodated on request as a private hire. We have 3 designated party booths, a café serving hot & cold drinks / snacks, shared seating within the café area, lockers for your valuables which are free of charge and baby changing facilities.

Can I watch a game but not take part?

Unfortunately for safety reasons spectators are not permitted in the arena. However we do show the action from the arena on one of the screens in the café area.

Does it hurt?

No, laser tag does not hurt. When receiving a hit your pack may vibrate a little but this does not hurt.

Is it scary?

The arena is fully lit with low, ambient lighting and fog is used to allow the laser beams to be visible, this can be a little daunting for some children however a marshal supervises all games to ensure participants feel safe and happy. We avise that younger children are accompanied by an adult they are familiar with and our supervisors are trained to help encourage anxious children to join in.

What food do you provide?

Should you opt for our food package when booking a birthday party children are given the choice on arrival between either a foot long pork hot dog or a portion of a 12" cheese and tomato pizza. We also provide choc-ices for dessert. At present we are unable to offer dairy free, vegan, halal or kosher options but we are looking to be able to offer these in the future.

Can I bring my own food and drink?

The café seating areas are for the use of those who have purchased food/drinks from our café and those waiting for games to start. Therefore we request that you do not bring food and drink for consumption onto our premises. Customers that have booked party packages including a private party booth are able to supply their own food and drink.

We have a reasonably priced café should you require refreshments or a bite to eat.

What do I need to bring with me?

You do not need to bring anything with you, all the equipment you need is provided. We recommend that you wear comfortable clothing and trainers or flat shoes with a closed toe. You will become quite warm whilst playing so we suggest that you remove jackets and jumpers.

What does a game involve?

A game lasts 20 minutes, with the entire experience lasting about 30 minutes.

Before you play you will receive a video briefing which will inform you of the rules and how to play. Once your briefing has finished you will enter the vesting area to get kitted up, from here you will enter the arena and the game will begin.

Make sure to take note of your team colour and number, as at the end of each game you will be given a sheet with your individual and team's score. Your pack number can be found on the front of your vest or the side of your phaser.

What time do I need to arrive?

If you are attending a birthday party please arrive 15 minutes before your party start time. For all other bookings please arrive at least 10 minutes before your start time.

Games will start at the designated time. If you arrive late you may have to wait to be briefed before you can join in. If you do not wish to join a game once it has begun we will endeavour to find another slot for you to participate in, however we cannot guarantee that this will be possible.

Refunds cannot be given for missed games.

Is there an age restriction?

We have an age guide of 7 and above, however we do allow children of 6 to enter the arena. We try to keep similar ages together as much as possible but cannot guarantee you will only be playing with people of a similar age to your group.

The youngest age for a birthday party celebrant is 7 years old.

Do we get exclusive use of the arena?

Games will be played alongside members of the general public and with other parties taking place at the same time. If you wish to have exclusive use of the arena please contact the centre directly to discuss options for this. We do try to keep similar ages together as much as possible but cannot guarantee you will only be playing with people of a similar age to your group.

When do we need to arrive?

Please arrive 15 minutes before your party is due to start and ask your guests to arrive at this time too. This will give you time to get settled into the booth and to familiarise yourselves with the facilities before the game begins. The briefing will start at your party start time and the first game approximately 10 minutes after this. Any latecomers will be admitted as soon as possible to the game but may have to wait to be briefed.

Is there a minimum number required?

The minimum number required for booking a party is 10 guests; if you wish to come to Laser Planet with less than 10 guests of course you are able to, however this would not be classed as a Laser Planet party, and would not include all the usual party benefits detailed below:

  • Designated party booth
  • Party host
  • Party food including bringing you own food and/or cake
  • Two free games for adults

You may add additional adults to a party booking at the usual game price if required.

Do you provide party bags?

Laser Planet do not provide party bags, however you are welcome to bring your own.

Can we bring decorations?

There is limited space for decorations and we would advise against them as party guests will only spend a small portion of time in their booth. If you still to wish to decorate you may bring balloons and banners which can be hung from the vesting cage or windows. If situated on the far wall please use the eye hooks to hang banners as blu tack can damage the paint. Please refrain from using table scatterings as they can damage our tables and are a slipping hazard. We do not allow fountain sparklers on cakes as we cannot move guests the required safety distance away from them.

Can I just turn up and play?

Yes you can, although we always recommend that you call ahead to check availability especially at peak times such as the weekends and during public holidays to avoid disappointment.

Can I enter the arena with my children?

We allow parents to enter and play with their children, however we do not allow spectators in any of the gaming areas. Parents will need to pay the normal admission rates if they wish to play.

Audio sensitive players

The music in our arena is quite loud and sirens sound intermittently during play when a base is captured. Should you be bringing any players who are audiosensitive we recommend bringing noise cancelling headphones for them to wear during gameplay. We also have a couple of pairs available at reception. Should you wish to play with lower volume we can accommodate this by booking in an exclusive slot for your group - please contact the centre directly for more information.

Red/Green colour vision deficiency

Laser Planet Watford uses red and green lighting and lasers in our arena. If you are colour vision deficient for red/green or are bringing a player who is please let us know in advance. We have a stock of white headbands and can organise kitting out one team with these as our UV lighting will make them glow during gameplay - signifying which team the wearer is on.

What will the new prices be?

All packages are charged on a per person basis.

  • One game will be £10.99.

  • Two games will be £17.99.

  • The party package without our food option will be £21.99.

  • The party package with food included will be £24.99.

Why are our prices increasing?

We are committed to providing a high quality, affordable party package for all and though we have fought to keep the prices down for as long as possible we now need to raise them to meet rising prices elsewhere that impact the business. Even at the new price we offer one of the most affordable packages in the area and will not make any cuts to what is provided or the level of service we have worked hard to achieve - we still believe the package we offer is excellent value for money at the new price.

What has happened to peak and off-peak pricing?

We have made the decision to scrap peak and off-peak as this allows us to maintain an overall lower cost for the packages. Bookings made during what was previously off-peak (weekdays during term time) will still have the added benefit of having the playing space to themselves during their games - unless otherwise requested, at no extra cost.

I made a booking before April 1st, will I need to pay more?

No. We guarantee that all bookings made before April 1st will be subject to the current pricing structure and any additional guests will be charged at the current rate, even if they are added onto the booking after the 1st. If your booking takes place after the 1st of April but you book it in now you will be charged at the current rate and any additional guests can be added on at the rate you paid, even if they are added on after the 1st. If you are unsure if you would like to go ahead but are interested in booking you can request to pencil a booking in and we will hold the booking for three days - this will be charged at the current rate, even if it is paid for after the 1st. Only booking enquiries or bookings made after the first of April will be subject to the price increase.

April 1st - is this a joke?

We wish it were, but rest assured we work tirelessly to keep costs as low for you as possible and are dedicated to maintaining a fantastic game and party package that people all ages can enjoy.
